Please comment if you see the kitten. I can't find it.
This ad wins the prize for preposterous claims (Google Books):

"after the pulse cannot be felt"
Really?!

As usual with medications promoted during the late 1800s, some folks actually found them helpful and their commendations filled product advertising. Evidence indicates one of the people helped by this formula was Dr. Seth Arnold, himself--probably the best endorsement of all. Here's a brief biography of Seth Arnold from Google Books:

UR Research at the University of Rochester presents the back of a Imperial Granum trade card:

"shipping depot," John Carle & Sons, 153 Water St., NYC
In The Milwaukee Sentinel - Jul 6, 1915, p.7, The Boston Store in Milwaukee advertises Imperial Granum

In an attempt to separate Imperial Granum from the assorted grandiose claims of such nostrums as Dr. Seth Arnold's Balsom, the Imperial Granum Company made an interesting advertising decision (from Google Play) as reported in the American Medical Journalist, vol. 1, no.1:

Not everyone was impressed by this tactic, however (from Google Books):

Imperial Granum building, 47 Elm St., New Haven CT
(Google Street View, Sept 2014)

Even the large families typical of the late 19th century didn't usually grow this fast.
